We have been having speakers from various behavioral health organizations for the past few months. This month we will have someone to talk to us about Care Court, which is a civil court process, mandatory statewide by December 2024, that enables families, first responders, and clinicians to petition for court-ordered,, voluntary-based treatment, housing, and support services for individuals with untreated schizophrenia or other psychotic disorders. We are interested in how it works in San Diego County.
This year we have been focusing on the relationship of Behavioral Health and the Criminal Justice System. We are also busy with updating our report on the conditions in our jails and giving presentations that include the new information at throughout the community.
We are always looking for more members to help us improve the criminal justice system in our county. There is a lot of work to do. Join us on May 13th for our next meeting.
