Tabling and Voter Registration

Tabling
This is your opportunity to register eligible voters and connect with current voters to let them know what services the League offers. These activities happen at community events, libraries, etc. In-person training is provided. For more information, contact Jackie & Sarah at vrcoordinators@lwvsandiego.org

Volunteers can also help out in our efforts to implement Prop 17 (passed in 2020) to make sure that people who are on parole know they have the right to vote.

Coordinated by Jeanne Weidner.

Speakers Bureau

Be a part of our education team to inform voters of the pros and cons of the state and local ballot measures. In late summer, we’ll need volunteers to research the measures and in October 2026, members will bring the presentation to community organizations in person and virtually. If you're new to the Speakers Bureau, we'll pair you up with an experienced speaker to show you the ropes.

Year-round, the Speakers Bureau presents other informative talks to community groups.

Coordinated by Jeanne Weidner.

VOTE411 is an online voter guide produced by the League of Women Voters Education Fund to provide unbiased information about what's on your ballot.

Four months before each election,  the California VOTE411 operations team starts identifying which contests are likely to appear on the ballot. This ensures that voter addresses will be mapped to the correct candidate contests and measures statewide. Interested San Diego volunteers are welcome to help with this major task.

In the two months before each election, a dedicated group of volunteers reaches out to candidates and gathers local election information, to ensure voters can access non-partisan ballot information and can confidently cast their ballots.

Join the Telephone Team, the Research Team, and/or get technical training to become a LoCo (a Local Coordinator, who manages candidate and ballot measure info during the two months before elections).

Coordinated by Julie Ann Sih

Campaign Finance Dashboard

Help shine a light on money in local politics. This project analyzes official campaign finance filings for all local candidate races and ballot measures. The goal is to show voters who is funding local campaigns and which independent expenditure committees are involved, so the public can see how much money candidates are raising, spending, and from whom.

Roles include:

  • Data Divas (1–5 hours per week in the three months before the election)
Assigned to gather raw data for ballot contests (candidates and/or ballot measures).

    • After training, navigate county and city campaign finance websites to check for disclosure data at specific points in each election's campaign cycle.

    • Download newly available documents each week, then upload them to a shared Google Drive for analysis.

  • Dashboard Divas (5–8 hours per week in the three months before the election)
Perform advanced analysis on the data gathered by the Data Divas.

    • Analysis will include use of Google Sheets to graph various categories of campaign contributions, as well as to identify major donors in support and in opposition.

Coordinated by Kim Knox and Julie Ann Sih.

Candidate Forums

Candidate Forums
During the two months before each election, we will need a Moderator, two Question Screeners, a Timekeeper, and Page(s) for each Candidate Forum, whether in person or via Zoom. This is a great way to engage with candidates and the election process. We welcome and support new volunteers.

Coordinated by Kathleen Grove and Vicki King.
